Although the initial specialized training was completed in early 2000, our inspector continues to take additional training and courses
in our ongoing advancement. Dale has completed all training offered by the Canadian Association of Home & Property Inspectors (such
as their own CAHPI exam and the Defect Recognition and Reporting Course), as well as additional training offered by the
Nova Scotia Building Officials Association (primarily composed of building inspectors). Continuing training is planned as additional
relevant courses become available.
As well as being a Registered Home Inspector (RHI) - the highest provincial level for professional
home inspectors, Dale is also one of the first National Certificate Holders in Canada - the highest national level for professional
home inspectors.
Dale is also past president of CAHPI-Atlantic, served as a Director on the National CAHPI Board, was Registrar for
the National Pilot Certificate Holder program, and is one of the testing inspectors for those applying for national certification. All
this is combined with the experience of having performed hundreds of professional home and property as well as commercial inspections.
It
becomes readily apparent, that involvement in the home inspection profession requires much more than simply being a handyman, a contractor
or a builder. Professional home inspectors require much more, if they are to provide a valuable service to their clients. Although
not necessarily specialists in specific areas of construction, professional home inspectors are the only personnel to receive
training in all major home areas and trained to understand how specific systems are to work and interact with each other, and how
to know when something is wrong.
Only then, is a specific contractor or system specialists required to perform a detailed evaluation
or effect the required replacement or repair.

In 1999, involvement began in the professional home inspection industry. Because of the difficulty in obtaining this specialized training,
Carson-Dunlop & Associates in Toronto, the largest professional home inspector training facility in North America, were
enlisted to provide the basic training required (involving detailed inspection training in heating, plumbing, electrical, structure,
ventilation, and so forth).
IF YOU ARE BUYING A HOME, YOU NEED A CAHPI HOME INSPECTION.
